Concert in the Sky!
The Northern Lights came to town…
Earlier this week I got to experience the phenomenon live and in person.

On Tuesday evening (Nov. 11), I saw the Northern Lights for the first time. These celestial phenomenon are typically not visible in our area. Tuesday’s aurora borealis were visible to the naked eye across Missouri and Kansas due to strong geomagnetic storms. The storms were caused by significant solar activity, including large coronal mass ejections, which allowed the aurora to be seen much further south than usual.

Forecasters called for an encore performance the following night. Unfortunately, our show was for one night only…

The Northern Lights allowed us to “nerd out” for a little while; seriously, who doesn’t love space and weather? Ultimately, the aurora provided an opportunity to truly appreciate the wonders of our universe.
